Has there ever been a more overused word in our country than “Crazy?” “Crazy for feeling so Lonely…” Or the dreaded, “Crazy Busy!” Or Cray Cray. Or Craaaaazzzzzyyyy. Call me Crazy but let’s get technical here; crazy = “Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned” ~ this can be echoed ad infinitum.
cra·zy/ˈkrāzē/INFORMALadjective
- 1. mentally deranged, especially as manifested in a wild or aggressive way.”Stella went crazy and assaulted a visitor”
extremely enthusiastic.”I’m crazy about Alexandria!”
adverbNORTH AMERICAN
- extremely.”I’ve been crazy busy”
nounNORTH AMERICAN
- a mentally deranged person.”keep that crazy away from me”
These days “crazy” can be applied to nearly anything. This writer ascribes our collective crazy-ness to our United States of America.
Crazy was our response to the COVID-19 Pandemic and all the fallout that ensued. That time has surely passed (thank god,) yet the hangover hangs within our ether. A recent screening of director, Ari Aster’s, “Eddington,” continues rattling around in my mind.

The film makes for a tough sit, revisiting late May 2020, literally a crazy time in the world, and USA. Much like September 11, 2001, you never really get over it…scars remain. See it. Then see it again. Go there…Art imitates life, or is it the other way around?
